Voting Alerts on Facebook
In the run-up to the 2020 US election, the cross-company voter empowerment team identified a need to adapt Facebook's Local Alerts product for a voting use case. The update allowed civic authorities to notify Facebook users in a relevant area about urgent voting-related information like polling locations, voting hours, and more.
In the absence of a dedicated product designer, I mocked up and wrote UI content for both partner and user-facing flows. For the latter, alert notifications directed people to a section of the Voting Information Center specific to posts from election officials. Voting Alerts have strict usage guidelines and to this day are a critical tool for local civic institutions to reach voters.
